Overview

Qualifications

Associate degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Cardiac/Vascular Sonography or Diagnostic Medical Sonography. A Bachelor’s degree in Cardiopulmonary, Diagnostic Medical Sonography or in a discipline related to healthcare and/or education is preferred.

 

CCI credentialed as an RCIS, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, must be ARDMS credentialed as RDCS or CCI credentialed as RCS, and be in good standing. RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) or RVS (Registered Vascular Sonographer) additional credential preferred.

 

At least 2 years of clinical practice as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer or Registered Cardiac Sonographer who possess appropriate credentials specific to the concentrations offered.

 

Medical Directors- Must be a licensed physician, Board certified in the field that he or she is practicing, with recognized qualifications (by training and/or experience) in the diagnosis of cardiac and/or vascular disease and must be knowledgeable in teaching the subjects assigned. The Medical Director of the program must provide the input necessary to ensure that the medical components of the curriculum, both didactic and supervised practice, meets current standards of medical practice.

 

*All credentials must be maintained on a continuous basis.

 

Special skills or abilities related to position:

Commitment to the college objective of providing instruction for a diverse student population.  Excellent interpersonal, oral communication and writing skills.  Knowledge of learning and assessment theories and methods and the relationship to the pedagogy of teaching.  Must participate in the Cardiovascular Technology Program goal determination, curriculum development, and outcomes assessment. Possess a high level of technical skills and subject matter knowledge as it relates to a specific discipline.  Evidence of initiative, resourcefulness and adaptability.
